Each Speerhouse Scalloped Rack begins as a single, precision-cut one-piece scalloped frame — not assembled from corners, but sculpted as a unified border for seamless curves and perfect alignment. The delicate rounded scallops flow continuously along all four sides, giving this piece a soft, cottage-inspired silhouette that feels both whimsical and refined.


Behind the scalloped trim, a solid wood recessed box frame provides depth and durability. Inside are three evenly spaced fixed shelves designed to showcase your spice collections, vintage canisters, keepsakes, or miniature collectibles. The framed face features a subtle raised inner molding detail that adds architectural depth and shadow lines reminiscent of classic cabinetry.

Deb and I recommend the French Cleat as the most secure way to hang your spice rack or display rather than a wire that will allow the shelf to tilt slightly forward from the wall. Not the way you want to secure your valuables in a display shelf. French Cleat is the way to go and it’s included and attached.

All our Spice Racks and Displays have a dado Back panel… not simply nailed or screwed on with dozens of nails.

🔹 What a Dado Is


A dado is a groove or channel cut across the grain of a board.

• It’s typically made using a table saw with a dado blade, or a router with a straight bit.

• The groove is usually about ¼” deep (sometimes ⅜”) and as wide as the thickness of the back panel (for example, ¼” plywood).

🔹 Purpose of a Dado Back Panel


Instead of just nailing or screwing the back panel onto the rear edges, the dado method allows the back panel to sit inside the cabinet frame, which:

• Strengthens the cabinet by locking the sides square.

• Provides a clean, flush exterior (no visible fasteners).

• Keeps the back panel perfectly aligned and supported.

• Adds rigidity to prevent racking or twisting.
